Disabling battery optimization on Android smartphones
Most of Android smartphones optimize their battery by putting the Bluetooth and the GPS in a low consumption mode, which has a significant negative impact both in the connection range and GPS accuracy, among other features. Overall you can disable this feature by following this steps (see the video):
Here's how to disable the battery optimization on your Android smartphone for the Findster App, for specific brands:
Google Pixel
- Go to your smartphone's Settings
- Select "Apps & notifications"
- Select "Advanced"
- Select "Special app access"
- Select "Battery optimization"
If the Findster App is not listed as “Not Optimized”, tap on "Not optimized" and then select "All Apps". Search for "Findster" and tap on it, and then click on "Don't Optimize"
Samsung
Depending the Samsung model, go to smartphone's settings and follow this steps:
- Tap on "Applications" or "Apps"
- Select three dot menu (top right corner)
- Select "Special Access"
- Select "Optimize Battery usage"
OR
- Select "Device maintenance"
- Select "Battery"
- Select "Battery Usage"
- Select three dot menu (top right corner)
- Select "Optimize Battery usage"
On the "Optimize Battery" screen, if the Findster App is not listed as “Apps Not Optimized”, tap on "Apps not optimized" and then select "All apps". Search for "Findster" and disable that option.

* When your Motorola reaches a low level of battery (15% by default, though you can customize it), the battery saver mode automatically starts and ignores the battery optimization setting you've chosen previously, so steps 8, 9 and 10 are advisable.

There are many other smaller brand smartphones available that use Android, these settings may differ. If your device is not in our list, please try to locate a similar setting as mentioned for one of the brands above and apply it to fix the issue with faulty tracking of the Findster application.
